Applies to:
- Acronis Backup 12.5
Use Case
This article covers a scenario in which Indexing is failing to complete at a Managed Location with Deduplication enabled.
Symptoms
Backup 12.5 generates the following (or similar) error:
Windows error: ( 0x80070070 ) There is not enough space on the disk MESSAGE TOL: Failed to execute the command. Indexing vault |
Root Cause
Deduplication within Backup 12.5 utilizes a primary database file "unified_data.ds.0" which is created at an initial size of the backup being made and shrinks over time as the indexing process takes place.
Unfortunately systems place restrictions on the maximum size allowed for an individual file, in the event that this limit is exceeded the host environment will prevent the file from being created, the indexing process will then fail as the database file cannot be created.
Solution
Due to the nature of this issue there is no solution at this time since this is a limitation of the environment being used rather than that of Backup 12.5
Workaround
There are a number of workarounds regarding this issue such as:
- Use a Managed Location that supports greater than 4TB files for Deduplication
- This would require upgrading hardware of software specifically.
- Disable Deduplication on the Managed Location
- Utilize multiple Storage Nodes to handle multiple Deduplication vaults
