SCS KB 1067: Acronis SCS Upgrading to Acronis Cyber Backup SCS 12.5 Update 4.1

Acronis SCS Cyber Backup 12.5 Hardened Edition

Symptoms

You are running Acronis SCS Backup 12.5 Build 12.5.15590 and wish to upgrade to a newer version of Acronis SCS Cyber Backup 12.5.

Solution

Due to an issue in build 15590, it is required that an export of backup plans be done and imported in to a clean install of Acronis SCS Cyber Backup 12.5 Update 4.1 and Higher. Previous alerts and activities will not import in from the old installation.

Export Plans

To export plans:

  1. Log in to the management console
  2. Select Plans on the left menu
  3. Select the plan you wish to export
  4. On the right menu select export

The plan will export as a JSON file that can be imported in to the new installation of the management console.

Uninstall

Proceed to uninstall the previous version of Acronis SCS Backup 12.5, removing previous configurations and settings then install Acronis SCS Cyber Backup 12.5 Update 4.1 (build 16371) or newer.

Import

From the plans menu, you may import the plan.

To import plans:

  1. Log in to the management console
  2. Select Plans on the left menu
  3. Select import on the right menu
  4. Select the JSON file for the plan you wish to import

Upgrade Agents

Proceed to manually upgrading the agents by running the installer on each machine and then assign the newly updated agents to their respective imported plans.

If the agent fails to show up in the new installation, please perform a manual registration using the below commands:

Register a Windows Machine

  1. On the Agent machine, open Command prompt: Start -> search -> type cmd.exe and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Acronis\RegisterAgentTool\:

    cd “C:\Program Files\Acronis\RegisterAgentTool”
  3. Issue:

    register_agent.exe -o register -a <management server address>    where <management server address> is the IP address or hostname of the management server where the machine should be registered.If you want to register the machine in a specific unit, then specify the Unit ID

    register_agent.exe -o register -a <management server address> –tenant <unit_id>

    To find Unit ID, in Backup Management Console, navigate to Settings -> Administrators and select the unit. Look at the URL in the address bar of the browser and note the unit_id in the link.
  4. Optionally, you can define the organization unit where the machine should be registered by providing administrator credentials for this unit:

    -u <username>
    -p <password>

Register a Linux machine

  1. On the Agent machine, open Terminal.
  2. Issue:

    /usr/lib/Acronis/RegisterAgentTool/RegisterAgent -o register -a <management server address>    where <management server address> is the IP address or hostname of the management server where the machine should be registered.
  3. Optionally, you can define the organization unit where the machine should be registered by providing administrator credentials for this unit:

    -u <username>
    -p <password>
