SCS KB 1020: Drive Letters are not Retained in Deployment

Applies to:

• Acronis Snap Deploy 5
• Acronis Snap Deploy 6

Use Case:

Deploying a master image to a new device.

Symptoms:

Target drives do not have matching assigned letters compared to the master image. 

Solution:

1. Install the Snap Deploy management agent on the master machine. 
   
   
2. Place a script on the master image that contains the following:
   1.  

      WMIC Product Where "Name='Acronis Snap Deploy 5 Management Agent'" Call Uninstall /NoInteractive

       

       
3. Capture the master image using the online method on the bottom of this KB.
4. When creating the deployment template, specify this script to run to ensure the agent is not an installed program on the target machines.

Online Imaging

1. Install Management Console.
2. Configure the master system.
3. Install Management Agent on the master system either locally by using the setup program, or remotely by using Management Console. Once Management Agent is installed, you can image the master system online (without a restart) at any time.
4. Start the Management Console.
5. Connect to the master machine.
6. Click Create image -> Next -> A master image.
7. Follow the steps of the Master Image Creator wizard.
